Annual Membership Meeting

Our Annual Membership Meeting (AMM) will be held at Cleats Bar & Grille (5801 Aurelius Rd. Lansing, MI 48911) on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 5:30 PM. This meeting is for anyone who has been a member (played and/or managed) of LAWS in 2016. This does not include guest players. The cost of your meal as well as (1) non-alcoholic fountain drink will be covered. LAWS will not be covering the cost of alcoholic beverages nor food items ordered that are not on the LAWS menu. The purpose of the AMM is to elect officers, discuss and/or vote on any proposed changes to LAWS bylaws or policies, and report on LAWS business. We hope that all members will make an effort to attend and be involved in the future of our league. Prior to the meeting we will ask members to RSVP and select their meal choice so that we can have a headcount estimate.
The positions on the Executive Board that are up for election include Co-Chairwoman, 30+ Representative, and 40+ Representative.  All of these are two-year terms. Those running for an Executive Board position must be current or former authorized players of LAWS. Descriptions for each of these positions can be found under Documents, Operational Information, LAWS Bylaws on our website.  As a reminder, historically, Executive Board members have had at least half of their player fees waived in appreciation of their service to LAWS.

The position of League Administrator is also up for election. This is a one-year term and as stated in our bylaws, “it is preferred, but not mandatory, that the League Administrator be a member of LAWS” and “to qualify for the position, she/he will previously have served at least one term on the Board of Directors or have relevant administrative experience.”  Further description on this position can also be found at the bottom of this email and our website. Since this is a paid position, the election process is different in that those running will be subject to a standard employee hiring process that includes but is not limited to resume submission and an interview. Qualified applicants who make it through the interview process will have their information shared with all members via email prior to the AMM. At the meeting, LAWS members will vote to determine who is hired.
If you intend to run for League Administrator, please email our Chairwoman, Cheryl Williams (  ) by Sunday, October 23rd, and submit your resume at this time. Once we know how many people are running for this position we may ask for volunteers to serve on a Nominating Committee and continue with the interview process.
If you intend to run for Co-Chairwoman, 30+ Representative, or 40+ Representative or would like to nominate someone else, please email Cheryl by Sunday, October 30th, and include a brief paragraph which includes some information about yourself and why you are running for the position. This paragraph will be shared with all members.

Please consider running for one of these positions and if you have further questions on any of them let us know.
